2003 Annual Report Letter from the Chairman and Vice Chairman

This Annual Report brings you a glimpse of the restoration efforts at the Valley Cemetery. Working in partnership with the City of Manchester, we have accomplished many of our goals. Here are some of the highlights:

Restoration started on June 26th when the Currier Gate was removed for repair.

A grant of $200,000 was received from the New Hampshire Land & Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP), which will be matched by the City of Manchester through the Community Improvement Program.

The City of Manchester hired the firm of Paysage, the historic preservation group who prepared the Preservation Master Plan for the Valley Cemetery, to manage the restoration project.

The Norwin S. and Elizabeth N. Bean Foundation presented a grant to the Friends to plan and start a capital campaign.

From the beginning, we have been dedicated to restoring the Valley Cemetery to its original grandeur by seeking professional guidance. The following letter from Ms. Martha Lyon of the Paysage group, presents her report on the future restoration efforts at the Valley Cemetery.

Respectfully submitted,

John Wood                                    Richard Duckoff
Chairman                                       Vice Chairman
